Knitting Pattern: Chain Cable Scarf

$5.00

Description

Simple and quick, the center chain cable and basketweave edge of this scarf evoke thoughts of Ireland.  I designed this pattern after a trip to Donegal, Ireland in 2008.  You are purchasing a knitting pattern in PDF format, not a finished object.

This pattern is for a scarf with basketweave and chain cable aran stitches. The pattern suggests 6mm (size 10) needles and 9WPI (worsted) yarn but you can use larger needles or a thinner yarn for a looser knit. The photo shows it knit on 6mm needles with 9WPI yarn.

The scarf is worked flat and it is suitable for beginners who can cast on, knit, purl, cast off, and are willing to learn to use a cable needle.

Gauge is given for reference, but is optional. With the stated gauge I got 8 inches from every 60 yards of handspun. This works out to:

18 inch neckwarmer: 135 yards
3 foot scarf: 270 yards
5 foot scarf: 450 yards
7 foot scarf: 630 yards

This pattern can also be purchased on Ravelry if you prefer to keep your pattern library there.
